Brighton has a wonderful bohemian vibe, with it's lanes full of independent retailers, selling items such as home decor, fashion, beauty, books, fabrics, baked goods, vintage and so much more!
As I regularly visit the lanes I thought I would compile a list of some of my recommended shops to check out. So in no particular order:
A go-to destination for all things vintage and secondhand. This is an indoor market, on big scale. There's a ground floor full of all things preloved, from film and tv merch, to home decor, vintage clothing, bric a brac, old photos, furniture, books, if it's old, it's there.
The first floor is all vintage clothing. I find a lot of it I lust over, I wish my wardrobe was full of their clothing! I have found some pieces from there before so I would recommend checking it out. Think some 50's and quite a lot of 60s and 70s. I just love!
A small boutique of men's and women's vintage clothing. I always check this shop out as I once found the most perfect pair of Levis 501's in there for £45 (in fact I wore them just yesterday) and I like to check to see if anything else similar is in stock. Prices are not the cheapest, kinda what I expect vintage clothing to go for. I often see items in there I would love to own, but I have to check my bank balance first!
A wonderful indoor flea market venue. With various sections from sellers, from curiosities, books, vintage toys, ornaments, vintage clothing, and furniture. It's always a joy to have a look around to see what I can find. I've previously brought some clothing from there and Dan has found a book or two as well. It's the fun of looking around and discovering item's I didn't need, but certainly want!
There are two of these shops in the lanes, so you can't go wrong! TBWA is a local business and is also the company that holds a kilo sale in Worthing twice a month. Their shops have a great curated selection of clothing and accessories, mostly from the 60s onwards. I have found some great finds in there before. I also love the way they style their mannequins, gives me so much inspiration! They also have sale rails outside their shops, so a bargain is always to be had!
If you love feminine vintage styles then this is the place for you! A small but cosy shop full of beautiful vintage dresses, skirts and tops and accessories. I find their items to be well curated to great their signature 70's Bohemian looks. Prices are reflective of them being vintage, but I plan on checking them out once the warmer weather returns so I can dress in a girly boho way :)
A well established vintage chain of stores for men and womenswear. It's always worth checking out what they have in stock as you might just find that perfect vintage item! I like the way they organise the garments into type, ie skirts, trousers, tops, jumpers etc. It makes it easy to shop. I actually brought a pair of tan boots from there yesterday with a 10% off code they had so that was a bonus!

Situated in the previous location of Beyond Retro, you'll find a whole array of vintage and secondhand items. There is a secondhand clothing section at the front and at the back. The rest of the shop is full of vintage and retro items, you name it, they got it! Home decor, plates and cups, furniture, ornaments, books, music, there's a lot to rummage through!
I'm sure there's more that I've missed- if I have, please do comment below!
